AI Trading Signals: What They Are and How to Use Them

AI trading signals are buy or sell suggestions produced by software, from price indicators, trained models or wallet activity such as whale buys. A signal is an idea, not a promise. Judge any source by its method, full record and fees, and treat guaranteed returns or 100 percent win rates as red flags, as the CFTC warns.

Yes, software can give a trading signal. That answers the common question in the first line. It does not answer whether you should take the trade. Moby does not sell signals, publish a signal feed, or guarantee a call. This page is a glossary and a way to judge any source, then a look at what happens after a signal: a bot, or an agent, acting inside limits you set.

What are trading signals?

A trading signal is a suggestion to buy or sell, usually with an entry and often with a take-profit and a stop-loss. People make them. Indicators make them. Models make them. Onchain events make them, such as a tracked wallet buying. "AI" in ai trading signals usually means the suggestion was produced quickly by software that scanned more markets than a person would. Speed is not foresight. The CFTC's line still applies: AI technology can't predict the future. The advisory is AI Won't Turn Trading Bots into Money Machines.

Types of AI trading signals

As of November 3, 2026.

TypeWhat triggers itExample of where you see itWatch out for
Indicator signalsRules on price and volume (moving averages, RSI)TradingView alertsLag; works until the market changes
Model signalsA trained model scores a setupSignal apps and AI assistantsA black box; ask how it is tested
Smart-money and whale signalsTracked wallets buy or sellOnchain wallet trackers, copy tradingTracked wallets can be wrong or exit first
Social and group signalsA person or group posts a callTelegram and Discord groupsPaid groups with no record; pump schemes

Indicators are inputs, not answers. There is no "best AI trading indicator" to name here. A moving average tells you where price has been. A model score tells you what the model was trained to notice. A wallet buy tells you that one address acted. You still decide.

How to judge a signal source

Use the same checklist for a paid room, a free channel, and an app that says ai trading signals free or best ai trading signals. This page does not rank sources.

The CFTC describes scammers who claim algorithms can generate huge returns or yield 100 percent win rates. It says those claims are made about bots and about "algorithms that provide buy and sell signals to subscribers." That phrase is the one to remember. A source that leads with a win rate and hides the losers is failing the checklist, whether or not it uses the word AI.

Crypto signals and signal groups

Crypto signals and crypto trading signals usually mean a person or a bot posting calls in a Telegram or Discord group, sometimes with an entry, a target, and a stop. Some groups charge a subscription. Some say they are free and still ask you to act fast. The CFTC names trade signal strategies next to trading bots in the same warning about unreasonably high or guaranteed returns.

If you want to see how a group behaves, start on paper or with a size you can lose in full. Do not send funds to a group admin. Do not share a wallet key. ai crypto signals is the same product with a model somewhere in the stack. The judging list above does not change.

From signal to trade: signal bots

A signal bot takes a call and places the order. You still set sizes and exits. Figures below are from each vendor's own pages as of November 3, 2026.

The side-by-side of the two hosted platforms is Cryptohopper vs 3Commas.

From signal to trade: an AI agent with limits

A Moby Agent is not a signal service. It can see what Moby's tracked whales, KOLs and smart money are buying and selling, and it can research a coin: price, market cap, liquidity, safety rating, and top holders. It trades Solana tokens from its own wallet. Moby Agents trade Solana tokens, paid in USDC, including tokenized stocks. Safety tiers are green, grey, and red, and Moby refuses agent buys on red. Grey means not scored yet or a young launch, not a warning by itself. One starter theme is Smart Money Confirmed. You can switch on Ask before every trade so nothing goes out until you say so.

You set your agent's limits on max per trade, daily buy volume and market-cap range from the Moby app, and Moby checks them server-side on every buy your agent makes. Each user gets one agent, with its own wallet separate from your main in-app wallet. The agent cannot withdraw or send funds. Tell your agent your exits and it places real take-profit and stop-loss orders on Moby, including a one-call bracket. Buys do not come with exits attached. You name them. Copy trading is a different product: it can attach a take-profit and a stop-loss for you, and it copies Solana tokens only. Read what is copy trading and the product page at copy trading. Wallet flows you might research first are on the Solana wallet tracker. The steps for one whale strategy are on the whale-tracking agent page. This page does not repeat those steps.

An example prompt, which asks before it trades: "Show me tokens smart-money wallets are buying today, check each safety rating, and suggest one buy under $20 with exits. Ask me before you trade."

That prompt is a filter and a question. It is not a claim that the wallets are right. Connect it from Codex, Claude Code (CLI), Gemini CLI (with a paid Gemini API key or enterprise access) and Grok CLI, with the agent key. In ChatGPT, paste your personal Moby connector URL from the app. ChatGPT: works on Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces that allow custom MCP servers (web). Any MCP client that can send an Authorization header can connect using the generic setup.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI give trading signals?

Yes. Software can flag a possible trade from price indicators, a trained model, or wallet activity such as whale and smart-money buys. A signal is an idea, not a promise. The CFTC warns that AI cannot predict the future and that claims of huge returns or 100 percent win rates are red flags.

What are trading signals?

A trading signal is a suggestion to buy or sell an asset, usually with an entry price and often a take-profit and stop-loss level. It can come from a person, an indicator, a model or an onchain event. You or a bot then decide whether to act on it.

Are AI trading signals reliable?

Some are more useful than others, but none are certain. Judge a signal source by whether it explains its method, shows a full record including losses, states fees, and avoids guaranteed-return claims. Test with small sizes first.

What is the difference between a signal and a signal bot?

A signal tells you a possible trade. A signal bot acts on it automatically. For example, 3Commas Signal Bots can run trades from TradingView alerts through webhooks, and WunderTrading lists signal bots on its plans. You still set the sizes and exits.

Can an AI agent act on trading signals?

Yes, within limits you set. A Moby Agent can see what Moby's tracked whales, KOLs and smart money are buying, check a token's safety rating, and trade Solana tokens from its own wallet. Moby checks your caps on every buy, and you can switch on Ask before every trade.

Are free crypto signal groups safe?

Treat them with care. The CFTC warns about schemes that tout trade signal strategies with unreasonably high or guaranteed returns. Never send funds to a group admin, and never share a wallet key or seed phrase.
