Whale Tracking Agent: Follow Solana Whales With Your AI
A whale tracking agent watches what large Solana wallets and smart money are buying, checks the wallet's record and the token, then buys within your limits or asks you first. Whales can be wrong or sell into your buy, so keep sizes small and use approval mode.
A crypto whale tracker shows what large wallets buy and sell. Most products stop at an alert. This page is the next step: check the wallet and the token, then buy inside limits you choose, or ask a person first. A Moby Agent is the worked example. The same checks work by hand.
People also search whale tracker for marine sightings. This page is about Solana wallets only.
What a crypto whale tracker does
A crypto whale tracker watches large wallets and big onchain transfers or buys and tells you they happened. An alert feed publishes the move. You still judge the wallet and pick a size. Seeing the buy is not a plan.
Whale Alert publishes large onchain transfers so you can see that funds moved. The notice does not check a token and it does not buy for you. Treat it as a starting list. The decision stays with you.
On Solana, wallets and swaps are public. After a transaction confirms, anyone can read the token, the amount and the wallet address. You see the trade after it lands. You do not see why the wallet bought, or whether it is about to sell. You are later than the wallet you are watching.
What to do with a whale alert is three checks: the wallet's track record, the token's safety, and a size cap you set before you open the feed. If one fails, skip. A whale can be wrong, and a whale can sell into the wallets that followed.
A smart money tracker is the related search. It points at wallets with a history of trades, not only at size. Here, smart money is a check on a whale buy, not a second guide.
How the whale tracking agent works
Solana whale tracking with an agent is a short loop. The agent reads public flows, checks the token and the wallet, then buys within your limits or asks you first. Tool names are the public ones on agents.md.
- Read the flows.
get_whalewatch_feedis the whale trades feed.get_whalewatch_kol_feedis the companion WhaleWatch feed of other tracked wallets. A token bought by more than one tracked wallet is a stronger hint than one trade. It is still a hint. - Check the token.
get_token_smart_moneyshows smart-money flow.get_token_trade_briefis one pre-buy read: what the token is, its safety tier, the flow, the holders and the market. Green means verified. Grey is usually fine, including a young launch. Do not skip a coin only because it is grey. Red means caution, and Moby refuses agent buys on red-rated tokens. A refusal is final. Match the contract, not the ticker. - Check the wallet.
get_whale_wallet_track_recordis that wallet's history. Read it as history. A strong stretch can fade. - Size the buy to your rules. You set your agent's limits on max per trade, daily buy volume and market-cap range from the Moby app, and Moby checks them server-side on every buy your agent makes. With Ask before every trade on, the agent names the token, the contract, the amount and the price, then waits for your yes. Quotes last about 45 seconds. Moby Agents lists base rate limits of up to 6 trades a minute and 200 a day.
- Plan the exit. Moby attaches no exit orders to a buy. After the fill, place a stop-loss and a take-profit with
create_order. Skip that and the position has no exit.
Reading the feed spends nothing. A buy does. The funds sit in the agent wallet. The three limits are on AI agent guardrails.
Set it up
You can watch whales by hand with a Solana wallet tracker. Set up an agent when you want those checks on a schedule.
- Set up the agent. Set up a Moby Agent with its own wallet and your spending guardrails, then connect it to the AI you use.
- Set guardrails. Save the three limits in the Moby app before the first buy.
- Connect a host. Connect it from Codex, Claude Code (CLI) or Grok.
- Paste a starter prompt. Use the prompt below. It asks before a buy.
Claude Duet is Anthropic's personal agent (research preview, waitlisted). It uses the Moby connector you add in Claude. Moby has not tested trades on Duet yet, and Anthropic's own rules may refuse trade actions. Research and alerts work through the connector.
Starter prompt
Paste this into the agent. It is a starter, not a promise. Change the hour if you want a different cadence.
Check the Moby WhaleWatch feed every hour. For tokens bought by more than one tracked whale, check smart money and the trade brief, and ask me before buying. Never more than my per-trade limit.
Risks of following whales
Following whales can lose money even when the feed is right about what they bought. You arrive later, and you can be the demand they sell into. A faster alert can mean you buy the same weak token sooner.
- Front-running. The whale's buy is public once it confirms, and followers are visible too. Other traders can try to trade ahead of that rush. You are already behind the whale, because you saw the trade after it landed.
- Exit liquidity. A large wallet can buy a thin token, attract followers, and sell into them. The feed showed the buy, not the sell that comes next. You can be the exit.
- Wash trading. Related wallets can trade with each other and look like separate buyers. A cluster is not confirmation until you know the wallets are independent.
- Survivorship. Feeds surface wallets that just did something notable. Wallets that lost and went quiet are easy to miss. Read the cold stretches, not only the latest buy.
Small sizes and a required yes are the controls that survive those patterns. Read risk management for AI trading before you leave a schedule running. Longer explainers are on the Learn hub.

Whale tracking vs copy trading vs wallet tracking
These three start from a public wallet and then diverge. Whale tracking watches flows across many large wallets and decides per token. Copy trading follows specific wallets you chose. Wallet tracking is you, looking up an address and deciding by hand.
| Whale tracking agent | Copy trading | Wallet tracking | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it watches | Flows across many large wallets | Specific wallets you chose | Any wallet you look up |
| Who acts | The agent buys inside your limits, or asks you first | The agent or the app follows those wallets | You decide each trade |
| Where to read next | This page | copy trading agent | Solana wallet tracker |
A plain account of what is copy trading is on that page. For rules you set yourself, use copy trading in the app. That path is Solana tokens only, and an agent does not judge each token. The Strategies hub lists the other starter strategies. You point one agent at one of them.
One agent, one strategy
Each user gets one agent, with its own wallet separate from your main in-app wallet. The agent cannot withdraw or send funds.
You run that one agent. To move from whale tracking to another strategy, change its instructions. You do not run whale tracking and another strategy at the same time. You add USDC in the app. Buys stay in the agent wallet. AI Trading on Base, BNB Chain and Robinhood Chain is coming soon. Moby supports Solana, Robinhood Chain, BNB Chain, and Base.
Frequently asked questions
What is a crypto whale tracker?
A crypto whale tracker watches large wallets and big onchain transfers or buys and alerts you, so you can see what major holders are doing.
Can an AI agent follow whale trades for me?
Yes. A Moby Agent can read whale and smart-money flows on Solana, check the token and wallet, and buy within the limits you set, or ask you first.
Is following whales profitable?
Not reliably. Whales can be wrong, can sell into your buy, and you see their trade after it happens. Keep sizes small and treat whale buys as one signal.
How is this different from copy trading?
Copy trading follows specific wallets you chose. A whale tracking agent watches flows across many large wallets and decides per token whether to act.
Can I run a whale agent and a copy trading agent at the same time?
No. Each user gets one agent. You can change its instructions to switch from whale tracking to another strategy.
Try it with a Moby Agent
Set up a Moby Agent with its own wallet and your spending guardrails, then connect it to the AI you use.
