6551's OpenNews MCP gives your agent crypto news from 85+ sources, including exchange listings, meme and on-chain alerts, with AI impact scores, for context next to Moby's data.

About

OpenNews is 6551's crypto news MCP server. It pulls 85+ sources in six groups: news, exchange listings (Binance, Coinbase, OKX, Bybit and more), on-chain (Hyperliquid whale trades and large positions), meme, market and prediction signals. Each article carries an AI impact score from 0 to 100 and a long / short / neutral tag. Tools include get_latest_news, search_news, search_news_by_coin, search_news_advanced, get_high_score_news, get_news_by_signal, strategy-hit history (get_strategy_list, get_strategy_hits), and a subscribe_latest_news WebSocket feed. There are also finance lookups for SEC filings, 13F holdings and congressional stock disclosures.

What it adds to Moby. The "why" behind a move. Moby shows a Solana token's wallets and flows, and OpenNews shows whether a listing, a headline or a narrative just landed.

How to pair it. When Moby's screener or a whale alert flags a token, run search_news_by_coin and get_high_score_news for it to see if the move is news-driven before you act.

What it does not do. It can't trade, and its long / short tags are AI labels, not advice. Every tool needs a 6551 API token from https://6551.io/mcp; the pricing isn't published in the README, and the token page doesn't open for automated readers, so check what a token costs yourself before you rely on it. The strategy tools need an eligible (Max) subscription and each call uses quota. Coverage leans toward large caps, exchange news and Hyperliquid, so expect little on a fresh Solana launch.

  2. git clone https://github.com/6551Team/opennews-mcp.git (needs uv and Python 3.10+; uv run installs the dependencies on first start)
