Exa MCP

Exa runs a hosted MCP server at https://mcp.exa.ai/mcp. The default tools are web_search_exa (search the web and get clean, ready-to-use content) and web_fetch_exa (a page as markdown). Two optional tools, web_search_advanced_exa (domain, date and subpage filters) and agent_run (multi-step research with structured output), switch on through the URL. The server works anonymously with rate limits; OAuth or an Exa API key raises them and unlocks the agent tool.

What it adds to Moby. The off-chain half of a thesis. Moby tells your agent what a token is doing and who holds it; Exa finds the announcement, the team's site, the docs and the coverage that explain why, including on domains a plain web search misses.

How to pair it. When get_token_overview or get_token_trade_brief leaves a gap in data_notes, or get_token_x_profile shows a young account, send the token name, ticker and contract address to Exa and read what comes back before your agent sizes a trade.

What it does not do. It has no on-chain data and no wallet data, and it cannot trade. Results are web pages, not facts: the agent should still check the contract address against Moby's search_tokens so a lookalike token does not pass for the real one.
