DuckDB is an in-process analytical database for SQL over local and remote files, so an agent can query market snapshots and trade records without a separate server.

About

DuckDB is an in-process analytical database. You query Parquet, CSV, JSON, and other files with SQL, in the same process as your agent, with no separate database server to run.

What it adds to Moby. Fast, local SQL over market snapshots, fills, and trade history you already have on disk or in object storage. Useful when an agent needs joins, aggregates, or filters that are awkward in a spreadsheet or a raw JSON dump.

How to pair it. pip install duckdb, load exports or files next to Moby data, and query them in SQL. Pair candle or fill extracts from Moby with other local tables when you are researching a book or a strategy.

What it does not do. It does not place trades, and it is not a hosted data warehouse unless you attach remote storage yourself.

What's inside this repo

  • In-process analytical SQL engine
  • Reads Parquet, CSV, JSON and more without a separate server
  • Python, CLI, and other language clients
  • Optional attach to remote object storage when you supply credentials

Install steps

Third-party code: Moby does not audit or control it. Read the source before you run it.

  1. pip install duckdb (or install the CLI from https://duckdb.org/docs/installation/).
  2. Open an in-memory or file-backed database and query CSV/Parquet with SQL.
  3. Docs: https://duckdb.org/docs/current/
  4. Ask: Load these trade or candle files into DuckDB and show volume, count, and PnL by day.

How it works with Moby

DuckDB works on its own. With Moby your agent can also trade on what it finds.

In the Moby app: create your agent and fund its Solana wallet.

  2. Connect Moby MCP

Whale, KOL and smart-money data, plus buy, sell, SL and TP from the agent wallet.

  3. Install DuckDB

Your agent runs it alongside Moby's onchain data and trades inside your Guardrails.
