What Is a Sniper Bot?
A sniper bot is software that buys a token in the first seconds or blocks after it launches or gets liquidity, trying to get in before the crowd. Speed is the whole idea. That does not make the trade safe, and a fast fill can still lose money.
How sniping works on Solana
A new token becomes tradable when it launches or when liquidity is added. A sniper bot listens for that moment and sends a buy in the first seconds or blocks. Traders also pay priority fees so the transaction lands sooner. The bot does not know whether the token is safe. It only knows it can buy.
Risks
The token can be a rug: liquidity is pulled and the price collapses. A honeypot lets you buy and then blocks the sell. Bundled supply can mean a few wallets hold a large share and sell into you. You can lose the money you put in. A rug check reads holder and liquidity signals before a buy. It does not make a snipe safe.
Sniper bot vs trading agent
A sniper bot follows a fixed rule: buy as soon as the token can be traded. A trading agent reads data and can refuse a buy. The memecoin sniper agent is one setup, and it still has to live inside caps you set. A wider look at Solana sniper tools is on Solana sniper bots.
You set your agent's limits on max per trade, daily buy volume and market-cap range from the Moby app, and Moby checks them server-side on every buy your agent makes.
Frequently asked questions
Are sniper bots legal?
This page is not legal advice. Rules depend on where you live and on what the software does. Buying quickly is not the same thing as fraud, but rugs and other scams are a real risk. Read the platform's terms.
Do sniper bots make money?
They can lose money. There is no guarantee a fast buy is a good buy. Many new tokens go to zero. A snipe that fills can still be a loss.
How do I avoid rugs when sniping?
You cannot remove the risk. You can read a rug check, keep the size small, and set caps before the agent buys. You set your agent's limits on max per trade, daily buy volume and market-cap range from the Moby app, and Moby checks them server-side on every buy your agent makes.
What does Moby charge?
For a live swap, a 0.75% swap fee (minimum $0.90 per swap), plus onchain fees. The agent wallet is funded in USDC, and agent trading is Solana only for now. A fast buy does not change that fee.
Try it with a Moby Agent
Set up a Moby Agent with its own wallet and your spending guardrails, then connect it to the AI you use.
You set your agent's limits on max per trade, daily buy volume and market-cap range from the Moby app, and Moby checks them server-side on every buy your agent makes.
Moby Agents connect from Codex, Claude Code (CLI), Gemini CLI (with a paid Gemini API key or enterprise access) and Grok CLI, with the agent key. In ChatGPT, paste your personal Moby connector URL from the app. ChatGPT: works on Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces that allow custom MCP servers (web).
Each user gets one agent, with its own wallet separate from the main wallet in the app. The wallet is funded in USDC. The agent cannot withdraw or send funds. Agent trading is Solana only for now. Agent trading on Base, BNB Chain and Robinhood Chain is coming soon.
