Memecoin Sniper Bots and AI Agents: How Launch Buying Works
A memecoin sniper bot buys new tokens seconds after launch, before most traders can. Speed brings big risks: rugs, honeypots, insider supply and fast dumps, and most new tokens lose value. An AI agent is slower but can check the token and holders first, then buy only inside limits you set.
What a memecoin sniper bot does
A memecoin sniper bot watches for a new token launch or a new liquidity pool and buys within seconds, often in the first blocks after trading opens. You set the size, the slippage and a priority fee in advance. Some bots also sell when a preset target or a stop is hit.
A launch can have a second window. A token may start on a launchpad and later move to a DEX, the migration or graduation traders watch. Bots treat that handoff as another buy. For how a launchpad curve works, read what is Pump.fun.
Meme coin sniper bot is the same tool under the other spelling. Memecoin sniper is the short form.
Why launch buying is so risky
Launch buying is the riskiest kind of trading. The contract, the holders and the price are all new at once. Most new tokens lose value.
- Rugs. Liquidity is pulled, and there is no pool left to sell into.
- Honeypots. The buy works and the sell does not. A test is one moment, not a promise about the next block.
- High sell taxes. The contract can take a large cut on the way out.
- Bundled supply. Insiders, snipers and fresh wallets can hold the opening supply and sell into later buyers.
Fast bots bid against each other on fees. The later buyer often pays the highest price, after early wallets are already set to sell.
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission says this in its pump-and-dump advisory: "Customers should not purchase virtual currencies, digital coins, or tokens based on social media tips or sudden price spikes." Once a pump begins, it can be over in a matter of minutes. A chat countdown is not research.
Use a separate wallet with a small balance. Some bots ask for wide wallet access. Decide the amount you can lose in full, and set the exit when you enter.

Sniper bot vs memecoin trading bot vs AI agent
These three get mixed together. A memecoin trading bot is not a sniper, and an AI agent is not a faster sniper.
| Type | What it does | Speed | Checks before buying | Who sets limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sniper bot | Buys at launch | Fastest | Few, unless you configure them | You, in the bot settings |
| Memecoin trading bot | Buy and sell tools. You start most trades | Your own pace | Only what you check | You, trade by trade |
| AI memecoin trading agent | Checks the token, then buys by your rules or your yes | Slower than a first-block snipe | Holders, risk flags, smart money | You set them. The platform checks the buy |
A meme coin trading bot is that middle row under the other spelling.
A list of sniper tools is on Solana sniper bots. This page does not rank them. A roundup of memecoin trading apps is a different page, and a general Solana trading bot explainer is a different page too.
A pre-buy checklist for any new memecoin
Use this before any buy, on any tool.
- Confirm the contract address, not the symbol. Impostors share tickers.
- Mint and freeze authority. Mint still on can create more supply. Freeze still on can lock your tokens.
- Honeypot test and buy or sell tax. Any sell tax is a reason to slow down.
- Bundlers, snipers, insiders, fresh wallets, and dev holdings. Fresh wallets beside the dev wallet are a distribution.
- Top holder concentration and liquidity depth. A thin pool means your own sell is the dump.
- Who is buying. Tracked smart money is not the same as a pile of new wallets.
- Size you can lose in full, and an exit set at entry. Name both before the buy.
On Moby, the Solana rug check returns a low, medium or high read from risk signals and holders: mint and freeze authority, honeypot, taxes, bundlers, snipers, insiders, fresh wallets and dev holdings. The listing says: "A clear read can still be a token that fails later." rugcheck.xyz is a neutral third-party check if you want a second look.
How an AI memecoin trading bot buys new launches
A Moby Agent is not a first-block sniper.
It scans newer, smaller, riskier tokens. That is how Moby describes the degen leaderboard, and the agent can also read smart money and whale feeds. A scan is not a buy list. One pre-buy read covers what the token is, the safety tier, the flow, the holders and the market, plus the rug check. A failed rule is a skip with a reason.
Tiers are green (verified), grey (not scored yet, or a young launchpad token, and usually fine) and red (caution). Moby refuses agent buys on red. A refusal is final: no retry and no split.
Quotes last about 45 seconds. You set your agent's limits on max per trade, daily buy volume and market-cap range from the Moby app, and Moby checks them server-side on every buy your agent makes. A market-cap floor keeps it off the newest coins. The agents page shows base limits of up to 6 trades a minute and 200 a day.
No stop-loss or take-profit is attached to a buy. Place them after the fill, or the position has no exit. One agent per user, with its own wallet, separate from the main in-app wallet. It cannot withdraw, transfer or send. Agent trading on Base, BNB Chain and Robinhood Chain is coming soon. The Moby app itself supports Solana, Robinhood Chain, BNB Chain, and Base.
The CFTC advisory AI Won't Turn Trading Bots into Money Machines says AI technology can't predict the future or sudden market changes.
Example prompt. Not a card, and not a result. The 3x is a take-profit setting.
Every 15 minutes, check new Solana tokens with smart money buying. Skip anything that is not green on safety, has thin liquidity or a top 10 over 30%. If one passes, buy $15, then set a stop-loss at 40% down and a take-profit at 3x. Report each buy and each skip.
Skipping what is not green also skips grey, which Moby treats as usually fine. Only red is refused. The agents page prefills a stop-loss 30% down, a take-profit 100% up, and an hourly scan. Those are settings, not returns. A scheduled scan is that check, and you can ask for every 15 minutes.
Starter strategies for launches
For launches and memes, the live agents page names Early Launch Hunter, StonkFun Trend Rider, and StonkFun Whale Swarm as the wallet-led option. It does not publish a return, a win rate or a trade count, so this page does not invent any.
In the app: Agents tab, then Strategies, then the card, then optional Ask before every trade, then Copy. On, the agent names the token, the contract, the amount and the price, and waits for your yes. Off, it can trade inside the limits the app still checks.
Early Launch Hunter is the launch card. StonkFun Trend Rider is the trend card. StonkFun Whale Swarm follows wallets, which belongs with the copy trading agent. This page only names that card. Moby starter strategies points an agent at the same cards.
Settings that matter
Limits are covered on AI agent guardrails.
| Setting | Why it matters on a launch | On Moby |
|---|---|---|
| Max per trade | Caps one new token | Guardrail in the Moby app |
| Daily buy volume | Caps the day | Guardrail in the Moby app |
| Market-cap range | A floor stays off the newest coins | Guardrail in the Moby app |
| Approval mode | You see the price first | Ask before every trade |
| Stop-loss on every buy | An exit from the start | You place it after the buy |
| Slippage | How far from the quote you still fill | You accept a quote. Quotes last about 45 seconds |
You set your agent's limits on max per trade, daily buy volume and market-cap range from the Moby app, and Moby checks them server-side on every buy your agent makes. If a buy is blocked, that block stands.
Frequently asked questions
What is a memecoin sniper bot?
It is software that watches for new memecoin launches or pool openings and buys within seconds, often in the first blocks, using preset amounts, slippage and fees. Some also sell automatically at preset targets. Speed is the main selling point, and also a main risk.
Do meme coin sniper bots work?
They can buy very early, but buying early does not mean making money. Many new tokens are rugs, honeypots or quick dumps, fast bots compete with each other on fees, and most launches lose value. Results vary widely, and you can lose your whole stake.
Are memecoin sniper bots safe?
No. Risks include rugs, honeypots, high sell taxes, insiders holding bundled supply, and bad settings. Some bots also need wide access to your wallet. Use a separate wallet with a small balance, check every token before buying, and set exits at entry.
What should I check before buying a new memecoin?
Confirm the contract address, then check mint and freeze authority, honeypot and taxes, bundlers, snipers, insiders and fresh wallets among holders, top holder share, liquidity, and who is buying. Decide your size and exit before you buy.
What is the difference between a sniper bot and a memecoin trading bot?
A sniper bot is built to buy at launch as fast as possible. A memecoin trading bot is a broader set of buy and sell tools, often in a chat app, where you start most trades. Many tools offer both, with different settings.
Can an AI agent snipe memecoins?
An AI agent can buy new memecoins, but it is usually slower than a first-block sniper. Its strength is checking the token, holders and smart money first, skipping coins that fail your rules, and buying only inside spending limits.
Is a Moby Agent a sniper bot?
No. A Moby Agent is not a first-block sniper. It scans newer Solana tokens, runs safety checks, gets a quote and buys inside your guardrails. Moby refuses agent buys on red-rated tokens, and base limits are up to 6 trades a minute and 200 a day.
What limits should I set for a memecoin trading agent?
Set a small max per trade, a daily buy volume and a market-cap range in the Moby app, and Moby checks them server-side on every buy. Add a stop-loss to every position, and turn on Ask before every trade until you trust its picks.
Try it with a Moby Agent
Set up a Moby Agent with its own wallet and your spending guardrails, then connect it to the AI you use.
The hosts are Codex, Claude Code (CLI) and Grok. Claude Code means the command-line interface. Host setup, the key, and what the agent cannot do are on Moby Agents. How that sits next to the app you already trade on is on agentic trading.
Moby Agents trade Solana tokens, paid in USDC, including tokenized stocks. Those tokenized stocks are liquid xStocks on Solana.
You set your agent's limits on max per trade, daily buy volume and market-cap range from the Moby app, and Moby checks them server-side on every buy your agent makes.
A 0.75% swap fee (minimum $0.90 per swap), plus onchain fees. 10% of the Moby fee back in $MOBY on every swap, 20% after your first swap, up to 30% as you climb tiers.
